Kale ‘Black Kale’ is an easy to grow and exceptionally tasty brassica which is popular with chefs for good reason. Expensive to buy, it is a high reward crop for little work. ‘Black Kale’ is extremely hardy, resistant to bolting and will cope with light shade. Unlike other brassicas, it is less prone to pests and diseases, although we recommend that you provide netting protection against birds. Its dark blue, wrinkled leaves add ornamental value to the veg garden and are a rich source of vitamins and minerals.
This incredibly versatile vegetable can be cut early as a baby salad leaf, steamed like cabbage, or used in soups, stir fries and pasta. Height: 75cm (30″). Spread: 50cm (20″).
